Licensing Requirements

Original documents must be provided.

Proof of third party motor vehicle liability insurance for the motor vehicle must:

• be endorsed to provide the Licence Issuer with at least fifteen (15) days’ notice in writing of a proposed cancellation or expiration of the insurance policy, or of a variation in the amount of the policy;
• insure against loss or damage resulting from bodily injury to or the death of one or more persons, or from loss or damage to property resulting from any one accident and include provision for passenger hazard, with limits of not less than two million dollars ($ 2,000,000) per occurrence;
• be endorsed to include all persons who have any interest in the motor vehicle;
• not exclude coverage for use of the motor vehicle to carry paying passengers

Broker Requirements

Original documents must be provided.

List of all Taxicab Drivers and Taxicab Owners must include the following information:

• The name of the Taxicab Driver;
• The year, make, model and Ontario Licence plate number;
• Name of the taxicab owner and plate;

Proof of Commercial general liability insurance must:

• be endorsed to provide the licence Issuer with at least fifteen (15) days’ notice in writing of a proposed cancellation or expiration of the insurance policy;
• insure against all claims for personal injury including bodily injury resulting in death, and property damage with an inclusive limit of not less than five million ($5,000,000.00) per occurrence insuring them against liability imposed by law for any loss or damage resulting from the carrying on of the business to which the licence relates

Declaration of Applicant

This application may contain personal information as defined under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The information collected is required pursuant to the terms of the Municipal Act and will be used by the City of Belleville to process the application, and to determine whether to issue a licence. Information will also be used for administration of such licence, and for law enforcement purposes to ensure compliance with all applicable statues, regulations and by-laws.
