The overall purpose of the Traffic Calming Policy is to provide an inclusive process that addresses local neighbourhood traffic issues in the City of Belleville. The ideal resolution for traffic calming under the policy is to reduce high traffic speeds within residential neighbourhoods and thus improving safety for pedestrians and area residents.

In accordance with the Traffic Calming Policy traffic calming methods will only be considered on urban local roads within the Urban areas of Ward 1 and Ward 2.

Traffic calming methods vary in types from passive to physical and only those identified within the Traffic Calming Policy will be considered.
